Module 6: Dimensions of urban agriculture: Problems and risks

Introduction

This session will mirror the previous one, considering the problems and risks (actual and potential negative impacts) that are commonly linked to urban agriculture, or at least to particular urban agriculture practices.  It provides a systematic review of the main problems and risks; the module will also consider the appropriate responses to these same problems and risks.

Learning objectives

After completing this module, you will be able to:

  • State the range of problems and risks that can be associated with urban agriculture in general
  • Distinguish between actual and perceived risks
  • Characterize the problems and risks derived from urban agricultural practices in specific contexts
  • Relate potential solutions to identified urban agriculture problems and risks, both actual and perceived
