During the PC Meeting in February 2008, the RUAF partners paid a short visit to the Buurtschap IJsselzone an agricultural area directly neighbouring the city of Zwolle and located along the river IJssel. Local farmers and concerned inhabitants of Zwolle in cooperation with the Municipality of Zwolle and the local Water Management Agency have started a joint initiative that aims to prevent any construction activities to take place between the city and the river IJssel and to develop this area into a multi-functional area combining agricultural production with other functions like landscape and biodiversity maintenance, water management, recreation, ecological education, among others.
